You’re Not Fading. You’re Becoming Something New
If you’re feeling lost, this may be the most honest story you’ll read.
We talk a lot about personal growth and reinvention, but let’s be honest—who we surround ourselves with makes or breaks that journey.
The right friendships don’t just support us; they challenge us, push us, and remind us who we are when we forget.
That’s what Val begins to realize in Whispers of Echo Canyon. She’s spent so much time trying to figure out what’s next that she’s overlooked what’s already here—the quiet possibility of connection. Then, she meets Raven.
It’s not an instant bond. There’s hesitation. Uncertainty. A dance between curiosity and caution. Slowly, Val begins to see herself differently—not just through her own eyes but through the reflection of a new friendship.
And then she’s finally honest—with Raven and with herself:
Val stood on the porch, gripping the wooden railing like it might hold her together.
“Raven,” she said, her voice catching, “I thought leaving nursing would be freeing—that I’d finally figure out what I really wanted. But instead… I feel lost. I don’t know how to move forward. I thought I’d find peace, but the more time passes, the more I feel like I’m fading.”
She looked away, ashamed. “I don’t even know who I am anymore.”
This moment comes from Whispers of Echo Canyon — the first book in my series , Women of the Canyon.
But it also came from my life.
We had moved from Tucson to Kauai, and I’d left all my friends and clients behind. I felt I had lost who I was and spent hours trying to rediscover my purpose from the ground up.
Have you ever felt that?
The quiet ache of not knowing what comes next.
The loneliness of friendships that have changed or disappeared.
The disorientation of losing roles, routines, or purpose—
You’re not alone.
And I made this space for you.
What Women, Fiction, and Life’s Threads Offers
Women, Fiction, and Life’s Threads is where fiction and real life come together — to help you reconnect with yourself in a season when the ground beneath you has shifted.
My publication rests on two core pillars that weave story and lived experience together:
Women of the Canyon
Each week, I send a new chapter of Women of the Canyon, a continuing story about five strong, complex women from their 50s to 70s.
Like us, they’re navigating change, loss, purpose, and unexpected friendship. They find strength in each other—and the land around them. The series begins with Whispers of Echo Canyon, a novel told in weekly chapters.
It’s a place to explore your possibilities while escaping to a world that feels both new and deeply familiar.
If you’re a paid subscriber, you’ll also receive Interludes—standalone side stories that reveal the women’s deeper histories, hidden motivations, and surprising turning points.
Life’s Threads
Life’s Threads are reflections inspired by my fiction but grounded in real life.
▶️ What makes this space unique is how fiction and nonfiction work hand-in-hand. You’ll see yourself in the characters—and then, through the reflections, you’ll find ways to navigate the very same questions they’re asking.
It’s not just a good story. It’s a mirror—and a map.
Life’s Threads help you make emotional sense of your path, especially in uncertain places.
The posts are not advice. They’re invitations—a way to reconnect—with yourself, your past, and what still matters.
And you’ll never feel alone.
“ Like Raven says to Val in Whispers of Echo Canyon
“Sometimes, the emptiness makes room for something new—something you can’t see yet…
You don’t need a grand plan. Just follow the tiny sparks that light your way.”
These moments aren’t about fixing. They’re about recognizing.
Insight you can feel—not just think about.
This is more than a reading experience.
Life’s Threads is a quiet companion for women in later life who crave connection, meaning, and answers to the question, “What now?”
Together, fiction + reflection help you:
Feel seen
Reconnect with yourself
Make peace with where you are
And begin to imagine what comes next

Why It Matters
Because too many women later in life feel invisible.
Because no one tells us what to do after the roles fall away.
And because sometimes, the way back to ourselves is through story.
And I’d be honored to walk beside you.

I know what you are saying re HI because I experienced the same thing. I thought HI would be paradise. Yes, it was beautiful but there is more to life than beaches and sunsets. What I missed most (and what drove us mainland) was a lack of connection. I missed my friends and family so much that I felt lost and sad. After 4 1/2 yrs. we came back.
